Scripture Reading:  James 1:5

Our scriptural reference today says, “But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all.”  Wisdom means the spiritual capacity to see and evaluate life and conduct from God’s points of view.  It involves making right choices and doing right things according to both the will of God revealed in His word by the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Wisdom can therefore be gotten by drawing closer to God painstakingly and sincerely seeking His counsel on any issues bordering you.  Today, the Holy

Spirit brings to our understanding that our inability to succeed in some of our previous plans was simply because we neglected the place of God and His Spirit in all that concerns us.

Beloved, decision making is a difficult task and unless subjected to the will of God, it becomes either a fatal or unattainable exercise.  Wisdom demands that you request God at all times to show you His plan, rather than ask Him to bless yours.  God can never tell you anything that would run contrary or opposite to the provisions of His word. (Isa. 8:20)  For your plans to succeed, wisdom demands that you make sure your goal is to glorify God.  Avoid making plans that tend to extol you or induce pride.  In so doing, God’s name is not glorified and eventually such plans or decisions never succeed.  Hear James 4:6, “But the grace of God is even stronger . . . . God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”  Believers in Christ Jesus must be conscious of seasons; God’s timing.  Wisdom makes it clear that we should not be anxious of anything, but in prayer and thanksgiving bring all our requests to God.  (Phil. 4:6)  It therefore means that God has seasons for everything on the face of this earth.  So wait, be patient. (Ecc. 3:1)  As stated earlier, simply trust in God; for whatever he promised must come to pass. Wisdom advises that you must be careful about the kind of counsel you receive from people.  Who is your counsellor; what is his pedagogy?  Is he a child of God, tested in the faith?  Is he always faithful and sincere in his dealings?  You must endeavour to listen to persons who value what you value; and have the required experience.“People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron.” (Pro. 27:17)  Finally, wisdom from God demands that you must never act with facts; but even in them never limit the power of God; because if the knowledge cannot lead you to the desired height, faith in God can.  For faith is what connects you with God.  Beloved, whatever you plan to do, put God first, seek his Fatherly counsel and believe unwaveringly on Him.  He will make you to succeed.
