Scripture Reading:  Ephesians 1:3 – 14

Yesterday, the Holy Spirit reminded us of the need to continuously carry out personal audit so that we can be sure that our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ’ is intact.  On this beautiful Friday, the Holy Spirit says to us, “Every faithful believer has life only in Christ Jesus.”  This term in Christ Jesus appeared 160 times in the St. Paul’s writing, 36 times in Ephesians.  To be in Christ means that the believer now lives and acts in the sphere of Christ Jesus.  The believer has conscious communion with the Lord and their lives resemble in all terms and purposes the life of Christ.  What a wonderful life of peace and joy to live in?
V.4 of our scriptural reference today says, “Even before the world was made, God had already chosen us to be His through our union with Christ so that we would be holy and without fault before Him.”  This is God’s divine purpose and will for which He allowed His Son shed His Blood so that the world can be reconciled to Him.  God is so loving, that man’s original sin due to disobedience was unable to change His divine plan and purpose for man.  Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated this love of the father with the story of the prodigal son.  In Luke 15:17 – 18, the word of God says, “At last he came to his senses . . . . I will get up and go to my father and say, father, I have sinned against God and against you.”  V.20 records that, he actually got up and returned to his Father.  His repentance made him whole and had no fault before his father.  This is exactly what the Father wants, that all believers be completely faultless before His holy majesty.  This is because we are co-heirs of His will through Christ.  St. Paul made this deep call on the Ephesians Christians.  He reminded them that they have been chosen according to the plan and purpose of God, even before the foundation of the world.  No wonder St. Paul, thanking the Father, says, “Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places just as He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world . . . .”(V3 – 4)  What a wonderful revelation.  It is the love that God has for man that made Him decide before creation that through Christ He would reconcile man to Himself.  This love is amazing and immeasurable.

Beloved in Christ, today the Holy Spirit reveals to us the love of God through Christ Jesus and as co-heirs to the throne of God we are entitled to the heavenly blessings through Christ.  Despite all these privileges, man prefers to live in the filth of sin.  Man prefers the darkness of Satan to the marvelous light of Christ.  Today, man prefers the poor and slavish status that sin causes to the abundant life which we have in Christ Jesus.  Today some people, including members of the body of Christ – the church, have inside of them, the abode of Lucifer and his fallen angels.  Some practise witchcraft and wizardry and wickedness even inside the church.  Remember, beloved that Christ shed His blood for your sake.  Remember the heavenly blessings that are eluding you because of your sinful life.  Like the prodigal son, arise NOW.
