Scripture Reading:  Isaiah 62:1 – 7

Vs. 1 – 2 of our scriptural reference says, “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her vindication shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning torch.  The nations shall see your vindication, and all kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name the mouth of the Lord will give.”Before now the children of God were in exile in Babylonia.  The 70 years of this exile was like a day in the eyes of God, but on the appointed date their captivity ended.  During these years in Babylonia, the Israelites were like slaves, denied of all their rights and priviledge as free citizens.  They had no freedom and were forced to eat the scraps from their masters’ table.  They suffered humiliation, deprivations and were ever hungry of their real home. Beloved, this was the state of many of us before we embarked on the 21 days fasting and prayers.  We were in a strange land, away from God (our authentic abode) due to sin and transgression.  In this state our souls looked ugly, unattractive and dirty in the eyes of our Holy God.  The 21 days fasting was therefore a period to reunite ourselves with God through the grace available to us in His Son – Jesus Christ.  This exercise removed false pleasures of the world and put you in a position to reassess your standing in the Lord and how much your life has touched the people.

Beloved, just one month ago, you went through this spiritually refining exercise of the 21 days fasting; and God has used it to pass you through the refining furnace, so that you shall be His watchman never holding your peace until the glory of the kingdom of God is established in this world.  Like John the Baptist, be a herald of the good news of the saving gospel of the Lord.  Let your voice be heard on the streets.  Announce to people to make straight their paths so that the Lord can easily come in. The Holy Spirit invites believers today to make it a practise to intercede increasingly for the establishment of God’s kingdom and Christ’s righteousness over the earth.  In doing this, believers shall always remind God of His words and promises and allow Him no rest until His will is perfected in the lives of all mankind.  Vs. 2b and 4 of our scripture reading says, “All the kings will see your glory, you will be called by a new name.  A name given by the LORD and your new name will be ‘GOD IS PLEASED WITH YOU’.”  Dear friend, when God is pleased with you, your land will be called, “Happily Married.”  The Lord will always be with you and be delighted in you as a groom is delighted with his bride.  On the walls of your daily life, God’s sentries are ever awake and will never be silent to remind God of His promises to you and your family for the year 2017.  May He give you the grace of total restoration to live out your new name.
