ABOUT US

Daily Strength Devotional is a resource that has implemented the new methods and new forms of Evangelization to convey the perennial truth of Jesus Christ, so that the faith will be consciously and personally lived with the assistance of the Holy Spirit through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, (Our Lady of Perpetual Help).

DSD it is an evangelization organization that collaborates both clergy and laity to implement new methods and forms of evangelization in order to convey the perennial truth of Jesus Christ, so that the faith will be consciously and personally lived with the assistance of the Holy Spirit through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The Daily Strength Devotional provides a solid platform for all Catholics and non-Catholics to keep abreast with God’s word daily, thereby creating a spiritual atmosphere for believers to experience God in their everyday lives. We employ simple language, telling real stories of real people’s spiritual experiences, their testimonies, their victories over sin and their personal stories of deep conversion, mercy, repentance, and fulfilment.

The Daily Strength Devotional is printed every quarter and distributed across the world. It is presently produced in English and French, as we explore the opportunities of translating it into more languages. We concurrently produce 2 editions every quarter (Nigerian and Ghana editions). DSD is also available via various digital media outlets, with all our publication being available as Android and Apple mobile apps.

The Daily Strength Devotional started 11 years ago, in the Catholic diocese of Warri. Just like the mustard seed, it has spread far and has been a spiritual shelter for many, both Catholics and non-Catholics alike. The Daily Strength Devotional has the goal of encouraging Christians in their personal lives of prayer and discipleship. Through the assistance of the Holy Spirit, Daily Strength Devotional is our modest contribution to the church’s call to New Evangelization.

In a bid to prioritize the evangelization of the young, A Daily Strength Devotional for Children and Teens is also available and published every 4 months. This version of the Daily Strength Devotional is targeted at young people, speaking the language they can understand and addressing peculiar matters that affect them.

Daily Strength Devotional is anchored on three pillars: Evangelization, Charity, and Lectio Divina. Daily Strength Devotional promotes the practice of Lectio Divina among her users. This encourages Christians to pray without ceasing. The Daily Strength Devotional is a faith community whose devotion is to the Word of God through the practice of Lectio Divina, with the ultimate goal of encouraging Christians to spend some time, physically and mentally, with God through His word. To further propagate the life of prayer, we have also published a prayer booklet, “Amen It Is Done,” which contains spirit-filled, inspired prayers.

The fruit of the Lectio Divina spirituality is expressed in evangelization and charity. In respect to our charity ministry, we embark on the training of priests, sponsorship of the indigent, orphans, widows, the sick, and the underprivileged. We produce free copies of the Daily Strength Devotional to be distributed in hospitals, schools, chapels, hotels, etc. We are grateful to the men and women of goodwill who God has been using to achieve these great feats using DSD as a divine tool to reach the least of the brethren.

In keeping with our mission of evangelization, we embark on evangelization outreaches and retreats through invitations from and in conjunction with the host parishes, dioceses, and various organs of the church within and outside the country. Annually, amongst other programmes, we organize the January 21 Days Fasting programme, Lenten Retreat, Pentecost Camping, International Retreat, Mid-Year Prayer Conference, End-of-the Year Prayer Conference, and various evangelization outreach programmes.

These activities, spirituality, and apostolate of the Daily Strength Devotional are published in a booklet titled: Lectio Divina, Charity, and Evangelization Manual with the imprimatur of His Lordship, Most Rev Dr Hyciant Egbebo (Catholic Bishop of Bomadi Diocese).

Daily Strength Devotional Charity is designed to encourage all Daily Strength Devotional users to answer the call to show love even to the least of the brethren. Donations are raised from fundraising at Outreach programmes, and from individuals who pay money into the Daily Strength Devotional account as seed sowing, some committed to paying stipulated amounts monthly, quarterly or annually these are referred to as Daily Strength Financial Partners.

These donations aid funding of free distribution of Daily Strength Devotional to the less privileged, prisoners, parish Chapels etc.

Also, from these donations we are involved in the sponsorship of some indigent, but intelligent children in Schools. Some are in the Tertiary institution while others are in the Secondary and Primary schools. One of them graduate last year and now doing her National Youth Service Corps.

We are also involved in assisting brethren in taking care of their financial needs, especially when it involves payment of hospital bills, procurement of drugs and payment of house rent.

As part of our charity programme, we assist some diocese in the sponsorship of seminarian training.

Aside from these, we collaborate from time to time with Bishops and Priests whenever there is need to do so. We also endeavor to play our role, to demonstrate solidarity with whatever the church is doing.
