Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12

When deciding whether to allow something into your life, you ask yourself: Could this begin to control and dominate my life? Could it become addicting to me? Could I become dependent on it? No matter how fun something is, it is bad for you if it becomes an addiction. Why is this so important? Because whatever dominates your life eventually becomes your god. Hear these lamentations: “I find myself addicted to masturbation to the extent that I rush home during break time at work to do it. I am already finished and I wonder that I cannot be attractive to any man any more”. The other lamentation is: “For the past months I feel lustful towards my junior brother and cannot control myself wherever I sight him. What do I do?” you can become addicted to work, sex, money, gadgets, the Internet the list is endless.

St. Paul decided not to let anything—other than Christ—control his life. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only One that is worthy of that place in your life. Anything else that you put in that place will eventually dominate and ruin your life. But when Christ is in control, He encourages, enables, and empowers you.

Christ is the only One who deserves your dependence. What have you been focusing your time, energy, and thoughts on lately? Psalms 37:4 says “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” -(NIV) Delight means, 1. A high degree of gratification or pleasure; joy, 2. Something that gives great pleasure. When we spend time in prayer, praising Him for little things, our current situation, even, for unanswered prayers, for seeing another sunrise or sunset, the Lord delights in us! Give Him All the Praise! And He will listen to you! Amen!
