Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 7:1-10

In the design of the great and only wise God, His own were to be different from others. He clearly distinguished His most unique creation with a mark — His own image and likeness. He was consistent in making everything in their species, with their own uniqueness, and separate from others. He created the heavens separate from the earth, the light from the darkness, and the animals of the sea from those of the land. They were uniquely different and unmixed. Man himself, was different, being in the image and likeness of God. He was the light in the midst of the darkness, and was indeed a terror to the ark enemy of God, the devil. That was man’s nature. The serpent, however, master minded man’s downfall, and at the fall, a mixture occurred. Man became corrupted.

In Deut. 22:9-11, God, using inanimate things, emphasized His demand for purity. He abhorred impurities, and admonished against mixture of things of different nature. When He chose Israel, He didn’t allow them to intermarry with other nations, for the chosen seed must not be mixed up. He called them His chosen generation, He referred to them as royal priesthood.

Beloved, don’t you know you are chosen? Haven’t you known you are different? Indeed, as you come to Jesus, He takes His residence inside of you. And He who redeemed you to live in you is holy, perfect, undefiled, separate from sinners, and pure. And the Father of us all desires the difference between you and the world to be as light and darkness.

Beloved, are you separate from sinners? Is there a clear difference, or are you a mixture? Whatever is mixed, is not pure. And this is the state the devil wants you — mixed and corrupted. Your purity reminds him of his former state, so he desires you to come to his present state.

Are family challenges, financial hardships, daily demands and needs making your thick wall, thin? Is your resistance to sin almost broken down, because your soul now questions the reason for being different in a world were all seems to be the same? O Christian, the world system is content to be an enemy of God, why do you desire to be the accursed when the Savoir by choice made you His saint? Beloved, don’t be discouraged, dare to uphold your difference.

God of peace and consolation, I humbly ask You to satisfy me in every way; help me so that my soul and body be kept blameless until the day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
