Scripture Reading: Psalm 31:23
Our theme for this year is “Assurance of Divine Destiny and Preservation”. Indeed God has been persevering us through the many storms, dangers, troubles and hard times that we underwent. If not for His preservation, the story could have been different. Psalm 16:1 says “Preserve me O God, for in You I put my trust.” As we come to the tenth month of this year, 2016, let us keep trusting God for the remaining part of the year. Let us keep crying to God in the words of the Psalmist saying, “Preserve me O God, for in You I put my trust.” We all need divine preservation don’t we? Joseph is an apt example (Genesis 37-21). Some of our readers are going through a “Joseph” type of trial and are at the point where Joseph was thrown into the pit. Unable to pull himself out Joseph could overhear his brothers plotting his death. God preserved his life, in spite of those who plotted his death, but He certainly put him through the pressure cooker of injustice and godless authority. In all his ordeals, God preserved him until the day he became the Prime Minister. We have the assurance that God will preserve us to be able to fulfill our destinies. God will preserve us until we fulfill His plans, God will preserve us until we reach the height He has destined for us. God will preserve us until we possess our promised land. God will preserve us until we get our healing. God will preserve us through the dark hours of the night until our joy of the morning comes. Job 42: 5 says, “I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.” Believe God for His word; no matter what is happening to the economy, God’s plan for your financial prosperity cannot be thwarted by the economic meltdown. Join the Psalmist in this prayer and prophetic declaration “In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.” (Psalms 37:19, NIV)
A hymn writer wrote thus: “We’ll understand it all by and by.” We may not understand the current pain and hardship in the land, nor see the end purpose on this side, but let’s keep trusting! “For we know that in all things God works for good with those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
