DIVINE PROMOTION (3)
Scripture Reading: Mark 10:35-40
Dear brethren, our Lord Jesus Christ had just reminded His Disciples in verses 33-34 that He would be crucified but all that James and John could think about was how to quickly get something from our Lord Jesus Christ before He died. How many times have we tried to take advantage of people or things at our disposal because we feel we contributed to their existence in the first place?
CAUSES OF DELAY FOR DIVINE PROMOTION: Eye service – Colossians 3:12, Proverbs 10:9, Ulterior motive (selfish gain) – Philippians 2:3, Luke 14:11. Stealing what is entrusted to your care. Sinful and wicked heart
PATH TO DIVINE PROMOTION: Obey your leaders and recognize their authority – Hebrews 13:17 Humility – James 4:10. Faithfulness – Gen 41:16. Loyalty – Genesis 46:29. Godly Influence – Genesis 39:2-5. Resist Temptation – Genesis 39: 7-9. Never repay evil with evil – Genesis 50: 19-21, Divine Favour – Genesis 39:2, Divine Revelation – Genesis 41:29-36.
EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO WERE DIVINELY PROMOTED: Esther – She became the Queen, David – was working in the fields when he was called to be anointed as King – Psalm 89:20, Joseph – From slavery to Prison to the Palace, Mordecai – Was remembered for his good deeds and promoted in place of Haman
CONSEQUENCE OF SELF PROMOTION: Pride, or haughtiness, is the original sin of Satan- Isaiah 14:12-15 In his pride, he exalted himself. Believing that only that which he wanted was important, to him nothing else mattered. In the story of Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel 4:30, notice how his thoughts are totally filled with himself and his accomplishments.
What a glory! To be exalted by God! To be honoured by the Lord of heaven and earth! When God exalts a man, there is nothing of which to be ashamed of. His honour is good and clean. There is no corruption in it. God’s exaltation is filled with His blessing. To hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.

1. Pray for forgiveness for the time you compromised your faith and manipulate the system in order to advance your ambition for promotion
2. Lord, Your Word says that promotion comes from You alone. That means that You alone has to decide when and how I am promoted. I believe this, Lord, and I am not going to look to man for my promotion anymore.
3. Thank You, Father, for perfecting all things that concern me. Thank You for taking care of me. Thank You for growing me and shepherding me. Lord Jesus, I ask You to help me keep my eyes on You and give me rest in the Name of Jesus the Lord
Exercise: Reflect on Ruth 2:12 in your quiet time
