FRIDAY DAY 30
Scripture Reading: Romans 12:21
Genesis 3:15 says, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your descendants and her Descendant. He will crush your head, and you will bruise His heel.” There is a battle between the offspring of the woman and serpent the devil.
Today, we are admonished on how to always conquer evil, the divine secret is with good. There is a competition of who will do more. Those who are not of God seek to do so many bad things to overwhelm good and defeat it. The same goes for the children of God.
In this life, we can only be victorious if we persist in carrying out the desires of our heavenly Father which is doing good. This is the divine secret to conquer evil, but oftentimes, we fail to realize this truth. Our scripture reading today says, “Do not let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.” When people do bad things to us, let us reply or pay back with good. Sometimes, we might be hurt by the extent of the hurt they have done to us. This is a bid to overwhelm us and break us down, but we should not allow this to happen.
Rather, let us fight back by doing good and showing them love, that way, we will overcome them. The devil seeks to destroy all good because he hates it and it irritates him. It makes him uncomfortable and disturbed. We should give him more of what he hates for the devil cannot stand good things. It makes God exalted above him and it reveals the folly in his rebellion against God.
The word of God says in Romans 12:19-20: “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Do good to everyone including your enemies. May God give us the grace to do good even when it is so hard and difficult. Amen

1. Eternal Father, thank You for teaching the secret of overcoming evil. It is one thing for me to long for justice, but an altogether different thing to want to repay harm for harm, evil for evil, beheading for beheading. Father, thank you for your commitment to avenge and annihilate all evil. Thank You for your commitment to wipe away all tears, put all things right, and to make all things new. Until then, Father, help me to be more aware of the advancing of your kingdom by multiplying good and refrain paying evil for evil- in the Name of Jesus the Lord-Amen
