Scripture Reading:  Exodus 32:1-10

Let us begin today’s reflection with this admonition from Thomas Kempis, “That though mayst, therefore, escape the everlasting punishments to come, labor to endure present evils with patience for God’s sake.” Patience is a very big treasure in the life of every Christian.  It is a treasure because if you do not lose it, you will not go astray especially when the devil that feels through delay, he can destroy your soul or make you forsake God.  The Israelites lost patience with God; for if they truly knew that the Living God who created the heavens and the earth cannot fail, cannot disappoint, cannot forsake His people, cannot but end the good business He started, they would have waited for Moses to come back.  Isaiah 41:17 says, “I the God of Israel will never abandon them.”Dear child of God, it is only God who can bring you the desired breakthrough, the liberation you seek, the healing which your soul longs for, the marital blessing that you are looking for, that blessed child that you have been expecting over these years, that financial breakthrough that you have prayed for.

The message from the liberation process that took the Israelites out from the land of bondage should provide us some consolation and trust to wait for God to finish what He has begun. (Philippians 1:6)   God did not just pull them out of Egypt by magic. The process of liberation started by the call of Moses, from there Moses was sent to the Egyptian Pharaoh demanding the release of the Israelites.  As Pharaoh kept resisting, the Egyptians were being tortured. Waters over the land of Egypt turned blood; the land was covered with frogs, from frogs to gnats, gnats to flies. It continued with death of all their animals, boils, afflictions, heavy hail storm, locust attack, to darkness in the whole of the land. Then came the final stage, the death of all the first-born in the land of Egypt beginning from the king’s household.  Listen to this, “Moses then said to the king, The Lord says, ‘At about midnight I will go through Egypt and every first-born son in Egypt will die, from the King’s son who is heir to the throne, to the son of the slave-woman who grinds corn.”   Beloved, God knows how to deal with whatever is troubling your life.  He only knows “when” and “how”.  He knows what to do to make your enemy bow, to get rid of your afflictions. The only thing is for you to be patient enough.   Satan would always want you to fail God, if you have not considered that, please do.  If you lose patience with God, you will do what you are not supposed to do as a child of God.  Hear what the Lord says to you today, no matter what you are passing through I, the Lord shall see you through (Psalm 34:19). Dear child of God, do not look sideways your help will come from above. “…….No one can have anything unless God gives it to him.”(John 3:27) Fulton Sheen admonishes us thus, “Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is “timing” it waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way.”
