Scripture Reading:  Romans 14:17

Welcome to today’s reflection, which calls us to allow the reign of God in our lives. We are called to let God reign in our lives.  We are God’s children and all our ways should reflect that indeed we are. Today, some of us manifest lifestyle that describes us as the child of the evil one. Our scriptural reference says, “For God’s kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of the righteousness, peace and joy which the Holy Spirit gives.”  Beloved in Christ, as children of God, we have been admonished to follow the path laid for us by our Creator.  We are here on earth to exhibit the character of God.  This is what our Lord Jesus came to teach us.  We must allow God to reign, let God have His way in our lives.  When God begins to reign in our hearts, we will manifest peace, righteousness, and joy through the power of the Holy Spirit.

One of the ways of identifying the reign of God in somebody’s life is just about the way he handles things.  The way and manner he conducts himself.  A true child of God does not subscribe to confusion or chaos but for peaceful resolution of issues.  Abram told Lot in Genesis 13:8:  “Then Abram said to Lot, we are relatives, and your men and my men shouldn’t be quarrelling.  So let’s separate.  Choose any part of the land you want.  You go one way, and I ‘ll go the other way.”  Let us learn something from Abraham.  The kingdom of God is in his heart; imagine how he resolved the issue between Lot and him.  You simply will agree with me that Abraham is a true child of God.  One of the painful scenes in our world today is that Christians exhibit actions contrary to their calling as followers of Christ.

These are some simple manifestations from those whom have enthroned God’s kingdom.  They are considerate people, they do not act wickedly to the other persons, they are humble, peace-lovers, kind and charitable. They do not like to hurt the feelings of others.  All of their actions towards God and man are just.  To further describe such a one, all his actions bring peace, joy, healing, and transformation.  People would want to hear and hear from them again.  People enjoy being around them.  When you are not around, your presence is always felt.  If they are in leadership, people rejoice, the impact they make is usually long lasting because they go for the best, reason being that the best is within them.

Today, let us allow God to reign in our hearts, homes, places of worship, marriages, communities and our nations.  Matthew 6:33 encourages us thus: “Instead, be concerned above everything else with the kingdom of God and what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things”.  Strive for godliness, it is not a gift but gotten through constant practice of godly living.  God loves dearly those who manifest His lifestyle.
