SATURDAY DAY 20

Scripture Reading:  Romans 1:26-32

Two laws are set before man to rule over him and govern him.  The apostle and teacher Paul, explains these two laws to us as he addressed the Roman Church thus, “For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, he has set me free from the law of sin and death.”  (Romans 8:2).  It therefore means that two laws are set before man.  First, the law of the Spirit which brings life eternal in Christ, and second, the law of sin and death which brings eternal damnation.  The decision of which of the two laws should govern man is entirely his; after God created man and gave him free will to choose between good and evil.  The Lord has set before us life and death; water and fire.  As a Father who knows the best for His children, warned us to choose life and not death; water and not fire.

Those who do evil are governed by the law of sin and death.  Romans 1:24-25 said, “They do filthy things that their hearts desire and they exchange the truth about God for a lie.”  While Romans 1:26-27 explains further the most disgusting thing that men do as thus, “Even women pervert the natural use of their sex by unnatural acts.  Men give up natural sexual relations with women and burn with passion for each other.  Men do shameful things with each other, and as a result they bring upon themselves the punishment they deserve for their wrong doing.”  Do you know that women use stimulating machines to satisfy their sexual orgies while men indulge in masturbation and homosexuality to get some sexual satisfaction?  These are heavy loads put on those who are supposed to serve God by the wicked ones.  The Holy Spirit warns us today to escape from where the law of sin and death has hold on our lives.  In Galatians 5:19-21, Scripture tells us that:  “What human nature does is quite plain.  It shows itself in immoral, filthy and indecent actions; in worship of idols and witchcraft.  People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry and ambitious.  They separate into parties and groups; they are envious; get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these.  I warn you now as I have before; those who do these things will not possess the kingdom of God.”   Sin appears as a normal act to those who indulge in it because their eyes and hearts are closed and hardened.  They do not see or feel the pains of evil and eternal damnation.  They take pleasure in evil and all vices because the Holy Spirit has departed from their lives.  The Holy Spirit warns the evil doers to escape from condemnation that is to come.

The escape dear friends in Christ, is for your lives to be free and redirected by the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:2-3 says, “For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.  What the law could not do, because human nature was weak God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with a nature like sinful human nature, to do away with sin.”  A prisoner escapes death sentence by presidential pardon.  In the same way a prisoner of sin and eternal death regains freedom by the Promise of the coming of the Saviour of the world, Lord Jesus Christ who has set us free by his precious Blood and death on the cross.  There is no other way to escape the desires of the human nature than to accept the Lord Jesus and live a righteous life.  Friends in Christ, you may have been a prisoner of the law of sin and death.  You may have totally condemned yourself and given up hope of redemption.  You may have counted your sins and other acts as beyond pardon and concluded that you are not worthy to live and be redeemed.  Job 14:7 says that there is hope for a tree that has been cut down.  Jesus is by you to set you free no matter how dark your life may be.  Seek Him and call on Him.  He alone can set aside the law of sin and death and open the door of freedom for you because He loves you personally and would not allow your soul to be lost.  The door of escape has opened unto you and the DOOR IS JESUS.
