FACEBOOK EVANGELIZATION

God invites us today to reflect on the Most Holy Trinity. This reflection should be accompanied by prayer, asking God for a deeper and better knowledge of Him. This calls for humility since our human knowledge and understanding cannot guarantee our knowledge of the Holy Trinity. With this humility we come to admit how limited and imperfect our understanding of God is. #catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram#dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... See MoreSee Less

It is the will of God that men would see your good deeds. You cannot be a Christian and the people around you are not aware that you are a Christian. And they are not going to be aware just because you go to them and say; "Hey, I just want to inform all of you that I am a Christian". No, it is by your actions and the way you pattern your life that they would know. Your actions will bear witness to who you truly are. Do not look the other way when you see a brother, neighbour, a friend, a colleague, or even a stranger in need and you know you have the word, the resources, the connection and the ability to assist. It is through your good work that your Father in heaven would be glorified.#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram#dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... See MoreSee Less

Saint of the Day: Saint Marcellinusagan philosopher who converted at age 30 by reading the Scriptures and witnessing the heroism and faith of martyrs. Used his philosophical and oratorical skills to dispute with pagans and explain the faith, becoming one of the first great Christian apologists. He opened a school of public debate in Rome, Italy. All this naturally brought him to the attention of the authorities, and he died a martyr.Prayer to Saint MarcellinusPRAYER: God, Light and Shepherd of souls, You established St. Marcellinus as Bishop in Your Church to feed your flock by his word and form it by his example. For us to be champions like Christ who destroyed sin completely, we must put to death everything that belongs to the old Adam. For what is made of flesh and blood cannot share in God's kingdom and what is mortal cannot possess immorality (cf verse 51). To be made by flesh and blood is to be ruled by flesh. That is why Paul writing to Romans says that "to be controlled by human nature results to death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace." The Power of the Virgin Mary'All the demons, however, shudder with fear at the name of Mary! When they hear the name, "Mary", they immediately release a soul out of the claws with which they had held her. Just as a bird or hawk, with its claws and beak embedded into its prey, releases it immediately if it hears a sound, but soon returns when it sees that no action follows, so do the demons - frightened when they hear my name - release the soul. But they return and fly back as fast as an arrow if no improvement follows. No one is so cold in his love of God (unless he is damned) that he will not experience the devil releasing him from his habitual sins if only he invokes my name with the true intention of never returning to his evil deeds. The devil will never return to him unless he resumes the will to commit mortal sins.Sometimes, though, the devil is allowed to trouble him for the sake of his greater reward. However, the devil shall never own him.' - The Prophecies and Revelations of St Bridget of Sweden#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram#dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... See MoreSee Less

As God's children, we are to wear humility as our daily garment particularly in our relationship with God and our fellow human beings. Humility opens the door of favour. A humble person is loved and appreciated by all. Hence, the book of Sirach 3:17ff enjoins us to be humble in everything we do so that people will appreciate us. It says, "the greater you become the more humble you shall be, then the Lord will be pleased with you." To make a world a better place, we need humble people in the Church, in our business areas, in the market and in other public places. Be part of the better society by being humble.#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram#dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... See MoreSee Less

Feast of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin MaryThis day is called the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary because on it Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, whom, as the angel had told her, God had blessed with a son in her old age.In the Introit of the Mass the Church sings“Hail, holy parent, who didst bring forth the King Who rules heaven and earth forever. My heart hath uttered a good word; I speak of my works for the King.”Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.PrayerVouchsafe, O Lord, we beseech Thee, unto us Thy servants the gift of Thy heavenly grace, that, as in the childbirth of the Blessed Virgin our salvation began, so from the votive solemnity of her visitation we may obtain an increase of peace. Generally speaking, courtesy is considered a domestic virtue. However, its far-reaching effects are demonstrated in Mary's Visitation. Being courteous strengthens the bonds we share with one another. It' aids our personal connections, and it helps us appreciate the little things in life. However, when we extend our care and appreciation to those beyond our immediate sphere, we begin to long to participate in God's grand design for the universe.#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... Saint of the Day: Saint Joan of ArcIn the early 15th century, England, in alliance with Burgundy, controlled most of what is modern France. In May 1428 Joan’s visions told her to find the true king of France and help him reclaim his throne. She resisted for more than three years, but finally went to Charles VII in Chinon and told him of her visions. Carrying a banner that read “Jesus, Mary”, she led troops from one battle to another. She was severely wounded, but her victories from 23 February 1429 to 23 May 1430 brought Charles VII to the throne. Captured by the Burgundians during the defence of Compiegne, she was sold to the English for 10 thousand francs. She was put on trial by an ecclesiastical court conducted by Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais, a supporter of England, and was excuted as a heretic. In 1456 her case was re-tried, and Joan was acquitted (23 years too late).“About Jesus Christ and the Church, I simply know they’re just one thing, and we shouldn’t complicate the matter.” – Saint Joan of Arc, as recorded at her trialPrayer to Saint Joan of ArcPray for me, that I may bear all unavoidable sacrifice and suffering in love as a way of sharing Christ's humility; that I may live in God's grace and return to God from whom I came.#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... Thus, we can see the need for the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that empowers us to live a holy life. Without Him our prayers fail to become pleasing to God. He is the breath of God that renews the world, fills us and makes us a new. By His power the Church works and by His power we obtain graces from God. He is the root of all the good things in us and the good things we do. Without him, we cannot please God.These highlight why we must build a strong relationship and closeness to the Holy Spirit. Pentecost Sunday is a commemoration and celebration of the receiving of the Holy Spirit by the early church. John the Baptist prophesied of the first Pentecost when Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:11). Jesus confirmed this prophecy with the promise of the Holy Spirit to the disciples in John 14:26. He showed Himself to these men after His death on the cross and His resurrection, giving convincing proofs that He was alive. Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Father’s gift of the Holy Spirit, from whom they would receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:3-8). After Jesus’ ascension to heaven, the men returned to Jerusalem and joined together in prayer in an upper room. On the Day of Pentecost, just as promised, the sound of a violent wind filled the house and tongues of fire came to rest on each of them and all were filled with the Holy Spirit. They were given the power of communication, which Peter used to begin the ministry for which Jesus had prepared him. After the coming of the Holy Spirit, the disciples did not stay in the room basking in God’s glory but burst out to tell the world. This was the beginning of the church as we know it.#pentecost#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... See MoreSee Less

Saint of the Day: Saint Augustine of CanterburyMonk and abbot of Saint Andrew’s abbey in Rome, Italy. Sent by Pope Saint Gregory the Great with 40 brother monks, including Saint Lawrence of Canterbury to evangelize the British Isles in 597. Before he reached the islands, terrifying tales of the Celts sent him back to Rome in fear, but Gregory told him he had no choice, and so he went. He established and spread the faith throughout England; one of his earliest converts was King AEthelberht who brought 10,000 of his people into the Church. Ordained as a bishop in Gaul (modern France) by the archbishop of Arles. First Archbishop of Canterbury, England. Helped re-establish contact between the Celtic and Latin churches, though he could not establish his desired uniformity of liturgy and practices between them. Worked with Saint Justus of Canterbury. Anglican Archbishops of Canterbury are still referred to as occupying the Chair of AugustinePrayer to Saint Augustine of CanterburyDraw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. The Catholic faith does not subscribe to the idea that man is a soul trapped inside a body. The human being is a body-soul composite, and both of these elements are equally a part of our identity. God loves the entire human person, body and soul, and so what we do with our bodies as well as our souls matters to Him. The fruits of the Holy Spirit align both our bodily actions and our interior dispositions towards God, which is the only way of living that will make us happy.#easter#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... Saint of the Day: Saint Philip NeriThough he was related to Italian nobility, Philip came from a poor family. His father, Francisco Neri, worked as a notary. Philip’s brother died in childhood, but his two sisters, Caterina and Elisabetta survived. Known as a pius youth, Philip was taught humanities by the Dominicans. The family moved to San Germano in 1533 to help some relatives with their business, and while there Philip would escape to a local Dominican chapel in the mountains. Having received a vision that he had an apostolate in Rome, Philip cut himself off from his family, and went there. He entered the priesthood in 1551. Father Philip heard confessions by the hour, could tell penitents their sins before they confessed, and had the gift of conferring visions. He began working with youth, finding safe places for them to play, becoming involved in their lives.Pope Gregory XIV tried to make him a cardinal, but Philip declined. His popularity was such that he was accused of forming his own sect, but was cleared of this baseless charge. In 1575 he founded the Congregation of the Oratory (Oratorians, a group of priests dedicated to preaching and teaching, but which suffered from accusations of heresy because of the involvement of laymen as preachers. In later years he was beset by several illnesses, each of which was in turn cured through prayer.Prayer to Saint Philip NeriO holy St. Philip Neri, patron saint of joy, you who trusted Scripture's promise that the Lord is always at hand and that we need not have anxiety about anything, in your compassion heal our worries and sorrows and lift the burdens from our hearts.#easter#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ... In fact, He has given each baptized Christian seven distinct gifts to help us know Him and permit His divine operation in our life. These gifts are far more than a list we all had to memorize in Confirmation class. They are the "breath of God,'»designed to fill your soul, guide your actions, and draw you closer and closer to Him.It's time to understand the immense power of the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit and learn how to pray for them with a brand-new devotion: the Chaplet of the Seven Gifts.#holyspirit#easter#catholic#dailystrengthdevotional#midyearprogram##dsd2023midyearprayerconference ...
