Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 22:30
Our Scripture reference says, “And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” From ages, God in His compassion and love sought for men who could stand the gap for His people; because He would not want anyone to perish. Just as is happening today, corruption among leaders (vv. 25-28) and the people (v. 29) was so widespread in Judah that God could not find even one person able to lead the people back to Him. It is a tragedy when some churches are so gripped by worldliness and spiritual compromise that God can find no one in the congregation willing to intercede by building the hedge and standing in the gap. No one to cry out against spiritual and moral decay; no one to lead the way in humble prayer, true repentance and an earnest seeking of God for revival. (2 Chr.7:14). Unfortunately, many good people remain silent out of fear or compromise rather than risk becoming fervent intercessors for revival and for averting God’s anger and judgment.
Beloved in Christ, many awful things are happening in our churches, institutions of learning, within government offices, (culminating in bad and oppressive policies), communities and nations.
These moral and spiritual decadence stares believers in the face but none is able to speak out or pray that such maladies be erased. Daniel stood in the gap for his people. He prayed, “O Lord the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and extends loving-kindness towards those who love Him and keeps His commandments, we have sinned and committed wrong and have acted wickedly…” (Dan. 9:4-5) Nehemiah was also another believer who stood in the gap for his people. He prayed, “…..please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your servant which I am praying before You, day and night, on behalf of Israel, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have committed against You: I and my father’s house have sinned against You.” (Nehemiah 1:6)
Today God is looking for genuine intercessors all over the nations; those who shall stand before Him in persevering prayers for the redemption of their nations and people. This is exactly what the DSD Prayer Network seeks to achieve. Every Tuesday morning between the hours of 12.00am and 3.00am all DSD users are required to be interceding not only for family members but their nations. Beloved in Christ the Holy Spirit invites you today to make a vow before God that you will take up intercessory prayer very seriously. In doing this, you shall be overwhelmed by God’s providence and protection.
