Scripture Reading: John 3:30
As we begin another day as God’s children, recreated in Christ Jesus, we need to understand where our place is and what our roles are in the Father’s agenda. It will be a blunder of thought to imagine that God decided to inhabit the body of man and then is inactive inside him.
God’s desire when He chose to make man His dwelling was this; God has said, “I may live in them and move among them, and I will be their God.”(2 Corinthians 6:16)What God desires is that, when we go about our day it will be Him we carry around. It will be Him making choices, taking decisions, thinking and coming to conclusions in us. It will be Him relating with our spouses and children, with our neighbours and colleagues in us. God’s vision was that we will be a house where He will dwell on earth and from this house He may reach His own.
We are God’s temple which He bought with a price. God didn’t spend so much to acquire a house just to sit down while another runs it. (1Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20) He earnestly desires to run the affairs of His temple. Just that, a hijacker contends with His sovereignty in us.
Dear friend, every second of the day, the battle between God and this hijacker on who wins over authority of our thoughts, imaginations and emotions rages. The hijacker is an intimate pal of us all; the “I”- our very self. Beloved, our consciousness of who paid a price for us and to whom we belong determines who wins. From our knowledge of what transpired on the cross, we know without doubt, we belong to God and not to ourselves.
The “self” always presents a logical argument as if to say you have the right to make your decisions and choices, “it’s my life! It says” and always wants to take charge of the affairs of life. Be on red alert against this subtle and persuasive hijacker. Be sure that he never has his way in your speech, thoughts, action and reactions. Be aggressive against him, shove him aside, forget him, ignore his voice and deny him his indulgences today. The flesh (self) is earthy and so will produce nothing but the earthy (temporary, inferior, and subject to decay). Jesus is Lord and above all things and so
knows how to triumph over all things. Allow Him reign as the day unfolds and you will be amazed at the result.
You must declare courageously in all things that I must decrease for Him to increase. Today we must be determined to allow our Owner rule in His temple and to relate with His people through us. The wasted years we had lived for the self is enough and over, “I” must get out of the way!
