(Day 8 of the Fasting and Prayer Programme)
Scripture Reading: 3 John 2
It is God’s provision and intention that believers be in good health and their lives be accomplished by His blessings. Thus, God’s blessings through redemption in Christ are intended to meet both our physical and spiritual needs. Hence, He says, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.” (3 John 2) Perfect health, is therefore, the will of God for all His covenant children. Dear child of God, you are entitled to this covenantal blessing. First, take notice that in the word of God is contained God’s life; and in God’s life is contained the health that you desire. Hear this, “My child, be attentive to my words… Do not let them escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.” (Prov. 4:20 – 22) The Word of God contains your healing pills. It is the balm of Gilead to which every manner of disease holds answerable. So always learn to speak the Word suitable to the ailment using the Word of God. (Isaiah 53 :5) However, it is important to acknowledge that faith in the Word of God is what makes the found Word, effective.
So beloved, you should not stop at knowing the relevant Words but also BELIEVE in their effectiveness. The Scripture says, “And blessed is she who believed that there would be fulfilment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.” (Lk. 1:45) Dear child of God, the effectiveness of the Word you believe is determined by the extent of belief. The more you believe in the revealed Word, the more the effectiveness on your health. Besides this, you must endeavour to change your thinking pattern, because as the Scripture says, “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he . . .” (Prov. 23:7) For you to partake in God’s covenant of healing, you must always be positive, recognizing that your Redeemer lives. We shall continue tomorrow!
