(Day 9 of the Fasting and Prayer Programme)

Scripture Reading: Psalms 103:1 – 5

The fall of Adam into sin led the human race into the universal experience of sin, sickness and death. Yesterday, the Holy Spirit gave to us three conditions, with which we can access God’s covenant of healing. Today He tells us, first, that PRAYER is very important if we have to access this covenant. In James 5:13, He says, “Is any of you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing Psalms.” Having found the Word, believe it, think positively of yourself, then go into serious prayers; for the scripture says, “And this is the boldness we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (James 1:6) Do not depend on drugs alone, add serious prayers; believe in the power of God to heal you. Secondly, the Scripture says, “Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14) Often, we request our users to apply olive oil, blessed by a Catholic Priest to ailing portions of their bodies. We are thankful to God because testimonies abound on the efficacy of the olive oil.
After we had prayed with a sister who could not stand from her sick bed for days, due to serious arthritic pains, we advised her to apply oil blessed by a Catholic Priest on the affected part. She did it as prescribed and the next morning she called with a shout of Hallelujah! Beloved, never neglect this great sacramental. Every believer, especially Catholics, must know that the Holy Communion which we take at Mass has the capacity, not only to heal the soul, but also the body. As Catholics, therefore, whenever you receive the Holy Communion, be expectant and believe Jesus Christ for divine healing. Beloved, take note also that one way by which you can access God’s covenant of healing is when you offer yourself to active service in the house of God. Hear this, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you. No one shall miscarry or be barren in the land; I will fulfil the number of your days.” (Exodus 23:25 – 26) Beloved can you see that on active service hinges a lot of God’s covenantal blessings to His people. Let us pray!
