Scripture Reading: Zechariah 4:6

Beloved in Christ, today we continue to pray for the grace to finish well. Anyone can have a dream, but it takes determination, perseverance and ‘courage’ to see it come to pass. People have started off well, have big dreams and great excitement about their future but somehow encounter setbacks, delays and human failures. Overtime discouragement, depression, self- pity and fear of failing set in. Some others may have started badly but finish well and strong.  Note however that: “ it is not of him, who wills, nor of him who runs but of God who shows mercy “(Romans 9:16).

Our Lord Jesus Christ had the power to finish whatever He started. That was why the writer of the Book of Hebrews admonishes, thus: “Therefore, with this great cloud of witnesses all around us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and sin that so easily restricts us and let us run with perseverance the race marked out before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith….” (Hebrews 12: 1-2). Our Lord Jesus has the finishing grace and because of it, He completes and perfects everything He starts. As children of God, we should have known that God has not only given us the grace to start but also the grace to finish whatever we started for the Scripture says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians  4:13). When we keep believing God and putting faith in His strength and saving grace by: reading and meditating on the word, offering sacrifice of praise and fervent prayers, reaching out to others in witnessing and love, we are tapping into heavenly power and will experience unusual energy and joy to move forward and not give up until we reach the finishing line. We should keep reassuring ourselves the God who helped me to start will surely help me to finish; notwithstanding the distractions put on the way by Satan and his demonic agents.  For the Scripture assures us thus: “God, who began a good work in you, will help you to finish it” (Philippians 1:6).

The devil does not fight people that are going nowhere. He attacks those that are getting to the finish line, in achieving divine goals, those happily married, those making high sales and waves in the industry and ministers. So be watchful and rely solely on the Lord.
