Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 2: 1-28

Over time I have found out that the two major complaints from women are: marriage and fruit of the womb. The passion and seriousness with which these two issues are discussed is better imagined. This was the case with Hannah. The reproach was unbearable especially listening to Peninnah’s words of mockery and disdain. The scripture says, “She was deeply distressed and prayed to the LORD, and wept bitterly. She made this vow: “O LORD of hosts, if only you will look on the misery of your servant, and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a male child, then I will set him before you as a Nazi rite……” (v.10-11).God heard the Hannah’s cry and blessed her with a son. In the same manner God answered the prayers of Rachel; she conceived and bore a son. She said, “God has taken away my reproach” (Gen. 30:23)
