Scripture Reading: Judges 16:22
The story of Samson is one that has so many lessons for every believer when keenly reflected upon. Samson’s mistake had a great consequence on his ministry. It was as if all was lost when the connection between him and his source of strength was cut off. When his hair was cut and his eyes plucked out, it appeared as though he was finished. The giant who destroyed thousands with the jaw of an ass became an object of mockery and entertainment to his enemies. Take this prayer, “In the name of Jesus, I shall never be an object of mockery and ridicule. Amen.” When Samson was in sin at the laps of Delilah, he called it enjoyment and must have thought he was having the best of times. Little did he know, however, that that was going to cost him a great deal.
Before the incident that led to his fall, whenever he appeared in the camp of the enemy, even when they heard his voice, they trembled with terror because of the wonderful gift of strength the Lord had bestowed on him. So many believers are like Samson. Spiritual authority has been lost to spiritual Delilah due to lousiness, lukewarmness and carelessness. How can a believer call sin enjoyment? Satan has crumbled us and made us his objects of scorn and mockery. So many believers have become entertainers rather than spiritual warriors.
A sister once told me that she had allowed premarital sex so as not to lose the friendship of her male partners especially the promise for marriage. Unfortunately such promises are never fulfilled. So the sister ultimately loses her integrity as a woman and remains disconnected from her Lord until thorough confessions are made following true repentance. This is unfortunate and this malady must be taken seriously by unmarried ladies. Beware of men who pose as prospective suitors. Many of them are not genuine; they are fake and wicked.
Whatever the case may be, I bring you good news today dear friends; all hope is not lost. Samson’s hair began to grow again. Your hair can grow again. Your anointing and spiritual gifts can be restored and rekindled again. You will be able to pray and fast again and avoid all forms of sinful associations. Our God is a God that restores the fallen; God is in the business of restoring those who have fallen. Samson killed more people at death when his hair grew again. God is ready to restore and refill you if you would pray with Samson today, “Lord, give me my strength one more time.”
