Scripture Reading: John 14:15- 26
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper to be with you forever…” (Jn.14:15-17)
Jesus our Lord will ask the Father to give the Counsellor only to those who are serious about their love for Him and their devotion to His Word. Consider the fact that Jesus uses the present tense in verse 15 (If you love me) thus emphasizing a continuous attitude of love and obedience. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of truth because it proceeded from the Father and the Son. For those who love Him and are devoted to His Word, the Holy Spirit lives within them as with the disciples.
Beloved in Christ, the Holy Spirit is the force of God on earth. In Genesis 1:2, the scripture says, “The earth had no form and was void; darkness was over the deep and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.” The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity is also described as the Advocate, Paraclete, Comforter and Counsellor who regenerates us to become God’s children. Believers who come within the sphere of His influence enjoy the following: CONSECRATION (Romans. 15:16), SANCTIFICATION (Romans. 15; 16), RENEWAL (Titus 3:5) and TRANSFORMATION (2 Cor. 3:18)A great man of God once said, “When we operate within the magnetic field of the Holy Spirit, great and mighty things happen to the glory of God the Father.”
Beloved in Christ you can be within the magnetic field of the Holy Spirit during the celebration of the Holy Mass; where the Lord is worshipped, properly addressed and proclaimed. This explains the innumerable miracles which happen at Masses especially during the consecration. Believers can enjoy the full benefit of the actions of the Holy Spirit during a well-organized and spirit-filled service and prayer session. During such programs, worshippers call down His presence as they worship and praise in spirit. This was what happed in Acts 2:2, Beloved the Holy Spirit is your friend and eternal partner and you can experience Him daily and at all times if you come to Him with utmost docility and devotion.
