Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:12

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (KJV)
So many people think of eternity as something so far away and so remote, that they go through life day after day not taking any thought of it. Some others just go on living carelessly believing that God is just so merciful that nothing eternally tragic can happen to anyone who calls on the Lord’s name. Still, there are some who don’t believe there is such thing as eternity, they live their lives for the moment.
Whether you believe it or not, and whether you give it any serious thought or not, eternity is real and it is the unchanging future awaiting every man. Eternity is just a step away and every one of us moves closer to it each passing second. Beloved, it is the state in which eternity meets you that you will go into it and in that state, you will eternally remain, there are no emergency cleansing after a step into eternity.
Jesus warns us today that His coming is imminent and inevitable. As He Himself, said and as echoed by His saints, His coming will take many believers unawares. Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 that, “The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. At the time when men will be saying “safety and peace”, destruction will come upon them suddenly. There is a suddenness, an unexpectedness with which the day of the Lord will come upon any man or woman who walks in life with casualness and lack of sensitivity to the workings of God. It will be a suddenness that will cripple and throw many believers off balance, and will show and display their emptiness. It will reveal the nakedness of many of us who call ourselves believers. Let’s not be relaxed in our shortcomings, excusing our wrongs, and claiming grace will see us through while we continue in sinfulness and sinful habits. This kind of attitude will make the end meet us in shock. Be alert and sober, be watchful of your life. Live as a pilgrim, who knows the time is limited.
The Scripture says, “For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when the Lord taketh away his soul.” (Job 27:8)(KJV) There is no hope for any man who meets his Lord as a hypocrite. Beloved, how will the day of the Lord find you? Will it suddenly expose your nakedness or will you be found clothed in the righteousness of Christ, alert and prepared? Will anything about your life bring you shame on that day? Your choices now are what will determine how you will meet your Lord, and your placement in eternity. Every second is a privileged experience. It is an opportunity to rightly place ourselves in eternity. Don’t waste it!
There is an unavoidable account we all must give before our Lord; accounts of how we used our body, time, opportunities for good works, tongue, money, and all the resources that the Lord generously put at our disposal. Child of God, how will you fare on that day? No amount of indulgence will save you, if you don’t quickly repent and turn to the Lord. He comes quickly as a JUDGE and as a REWARDER; what will be your lot, if He meets you just as you are now?
