Scripture Reading: Psalms 95:1-6
Yesterday, we rounded off our 21 days fasting and prayer. Today, you are invited to praises and thanksgiving. Thanksgiving and praises will complete whatever is lacking in our intercession. Psalms 9:1 says, “I will give thanks to You, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds.” As we were united in fasting and prayer, so all Daily Strength Devotional family are to be united in thanking and praising God for the next nine days. Today we begin our Novena of Thanksgiving and Praise. This Novena is found in “Amen: It is Done” (page 12). For us in DSD, this is a period of thanking and praising God. Psalms 103:1-5 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” In line with the spiritual atmosphere of thanksgiving and praise, we are therefore asking all DSD family members all over the world, this Sunday to come together in our parishes to offer thanks and praise to God with our substances. Even if you are the only person in your parish, ensure that you thank God also. Where you are more than one, come together as a family and thank God for what He has done for us. We also suggest that this thanksgiving should take place during the first mass; if possible. As we comply with this DSD request for thanksgiving to be conducted in all parishes, we pray today that God will remember you. He will open His Book of Remembrance and single you out for divine surprises.
Let us magnify the Lord with our thanksgiving this coming Sunday. For Psalms 69:30 says “I will praise the name of God with a song, and shall magnify Him with thanksgiving.” Thank God for the abundant life He has given to you: “We give thanks to You, Lord God Almighty…” (Rev. 11:17) Thank God, no matter your condition, “for it is right and just to give Him thanks and praise”, He is worthy of our praises.
