Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 14:14-17
“Lord, open our minds and hearts to only be drawn to the truth and the divine interpretation the uncorrupted Holy Spirit leads the pure hearts that long to serve you in wisdom, truth, generosity and meekness.” It is saddening to see how children of God appear restless, hopeless and fearful in the face of trying challenges. When we appear this way we become victims of “acclaimed men of God” who cash on our spiritual weakness and ignorance and thus, exploit us. Let us learn to be courageous in the face of daunting life challenges. I often say to people who come to me for discussion that “No human being is God or can take His place!
In whatever situation we find ourselves, let our confidence and total reliance be on God Almighty who is capable of doing all things”. The scripture says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.” (Prov. 3:5-6) Two reasons may be responsible why most believers fall prey easily to the antics of false prophets and prophesies:
Spiritual Paucity: Our spiritual level and maturity matters a lot when dealing with situations of life. It is only a believer that is spiritually mature that can withstand the pressure of not being misled by prophesy. Our ability to discern or interpret messages or dreams matters a lot. The gift of discernment makes it possible for a believer to distinguish between the voice of man and that of God. When we are spiritually immature there is the tendency to believe everything and act sheepishly to the dictates of someone whose intentions are not holy. Dear child of God, it is only in the power of the Holy Spirit that we can confirm whether it is actually God that is speaking or not. Hear St. Paul: “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. So also no one comprehends what is truly God’s except the Spirit of God. Those who are spiritual discern all things, and they are themselves subject to no one else’s scrutiny.” (1 Corinthians 2:10, 15)
Unfaithfulness as a Result of Unbelief: Dear child of God, our life problems are not solved when we get prophesies about them, but when we make reasonable effort to confront the challenges, relying on Christ Jesus. We must learn to listen to Him in His Word and determine to stand by His eternal promises. Beloved, God is faithful and worthy to be trusted. Rather than seek prophesies about your conditions seek God’s intervention, seek God’s holiness, seek a transformation of life. Solution without salvation is equal to deceit. Let your faith and life in Christ lead you to encounter Christ.
