Scripture Reading: Psalm 107:1 —36
Halleluyah! Today is the first day of the last month of the year 2016. When we look back to the past eleven months, we have every reason to praise the Lord for His goodness to us. Today, therefore, the Holy Spirit enjoins all users of Daily Strength Devotional to appreciate that if not for God, Satan would have made mincemeat of us. Secondly that we are alive today is simply God’s providence and that our health conditions would have been worse if not for Him. No wonder the Psalmist says in verse 8 and9 of our scriptural reference thus, “They must thank the Lord for His constant love, for the wonderful things He did for them. He satisfies those who are thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Beloved, the Spirit says to you on this first day of December 2016 to avoid complaining, rather praise God for He has been very good to you. He says to you; learn to praise God daily for common mercies, common as we often perceive them to be; yet so priceless, that when deprived of them, we perish. Life in itself is a gift from God, to the extent that when this gift is taken away by the Giver, life ceases to exist. Do you realize beloved, that your wealth, connection, intellectual ability, wisdom or political status cannot give you life? So, that you are alive today is out of God’s providence and love. Many started this year but today are gone, so you have every reason to praise God today. Friend, be part of the Daily Strength family that is praising the Lord today for His loving kindness, the bread that we eat, the clothes we wear and the members of our family. Let us praise Him that we are not cast out amongst the hopeless or confirmed among the guilty. Let us thank Him for liberty of the spirit, for friends and the fact that we are still living despite what we have passed through.
Beloved, on this day, let us praise Him for everything that we received from His beautiful hands; despite our unworthiness and unfaithfulness to Him. The Lord has bountifully endowed us. Beloved, the sweetest and loudest note in our songs of praise should be one of His redeeming love. God’s redeeming actions towards us (His chosen) should forever be our dominant reason to praise Him. If for no reason, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross and the fact of which we
are now His adopted children is sufficient reason to praise Him. It is enough to bend our knees and bow our heads daily in praise of His holy name. Beloved, if you know what marvels the Lord had done through the sacrifice of His Son, you will not spare any minute of the day without praises and thanks. Rejoice, beloved that Christ in His mercy led you to the Cross, destroying the shackles of sins and presents you unblemished without spot or wrinkle or any such thing (Eph. 5:27). What a great joy! Child of God you cannot afford to be quiet, rise up and praise Him. Hear the Psalmist, “Praise the Lord who carries our burden day after day; He is the God who saves us. Our God is God who saves; He is the Lord, our Lord, who rescues us from death.” (Psa. 68:19 —20)“Praise the Lord my soul! All my being praise His holy name.” (Psa. 103:1)
