TUESDAY DAY 13

MORE THAN A DREAM

Scripture Reading: Psalms 126:1-3

The Israelites believe that God reveals his intentions and plans to man through dreams. Joseph’s dreams revealed something that was to happen in the future and his brothers saw it and tried to stop it. When we receive a dream, a vision, or a goal from God, the truth is that some people won’t like it, but God is the one who has the final say.

When you think it cannot happen, can happen! Your dream can become a reality. A long time ago, the People of Israel were in captivity in Babylon. It seems impossible how their captivity will be broken. They were living under the pain of the cruellest and mightiest empire of their time, the Babylonian empire. There seems to be no victory in sight. They could not see the dryland from the middle of the sea. Amid the darkness God raised the young Persian General, Cyrus to bring them deliverance. It was a surprise to many of them. It was like a dream. But it was more than a dream. It was a reality.

God will fulfil His plans in His time: Joseph was still very young when he received the dream, and we know that it will take some time before his dream finally comes true. When God gives us a dream, it’s in His time-line. His plans will never fail, and He will always fulfil what He has said He will fulfil.

When David was a teenager, he was anointed as the next king of Israel. It was then that he faced Goliath, was banished by Saul, hid in the desert, lived on the run, forced out of the nation, and fought many battles. It was nearly fifteen years between the time that he was anointed king and when he became king. He was tested, just like Joseph, and I believe God still does it today. “The birth of Daily Strength Devotional was preceded by very serious testing and trials.”

Psalm 105:19 says, “Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character” (NLT). God uses those tests to prove our character to make sure we don’t waste the dream. If God has given you a dream, be prepared to be tested and to wait for the fulfilment of it.
