(Day 4 of the Fasting and Prayer Programme)

Scripture Reading: Mark 4:11 – 12

Our scripture reference today says, “. . .. To you has been given the secrets of the kingdom of God, but to those outside, everything comes in parables. In order that they may indeed look but not perceive and may indeed listen, but not understand.” For the past few days, we have been purging ourselves of all forms of unrighteousness. We have appreciated our unworthiness before our Creator, and sought forgiveness and restoration through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ. Today, we are confident that through the water of our baptism, restoration and friendship with the Father has been established, and this has entitled us to the secrets of the kingdom of God. No wonder St. Paul, said this prayer thus: “I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints.” (Eph. 1: 17 – 18) Beloved, you can gain access to the riches of your inheritance in Christ Jesus if only your eyes of understanding are enlightened. It is understanding that makes it possible for a believer to be aware of who he is in Christ, what he has in Christ and what he can do in Christ. As we open ourselves to this understanding, opportunities and the ability to access them are recognized. Child of God, it is God’s desire that we are totally fruitful and prosperous in all our ways as we live out the abundant life in Christ. Beloved, why then are many Christians in abject poverty, barren in almost every facet of life, especially child bearing? Why are many Christians still easy preys to the devil and afflicted by all manner of diseases and spiritual afflictions? In faith and prayer, we say no to all these ugly situations in our lives as we invoke and enforce our covenant rights to all-round fruitfulness and prosperity in Jesus Name. Amen. We shall continue tomorrow!
