(Day 5 of the Fasting and Prayer Programme)
Scripture Reading: Psalms 89:34
Beloved in Christ, humanity, especially the believer in Christ Jesus, is simply privileged; for he enjoys a covenantal relationship with his Creator. In Genesis 9:11, God said to Noah, “I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” Today God speas to you as he spoke to Abraham, saying, “I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you throughout their generation for an everlasting covenant to be God to you and to your offspring after you.” (Gen. 17:7) Say Amen!
The covenant is a VOW and not just a PROMISE and cannot be broken. The Scripture says, “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.” (Ps. 89:34) It is God’s will (covenant) for believers to enjoy fruitfulness, peace, wisdom, love and joy. God assures us thus: “If any of you could break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night would not come at their appointed time, only then could my covenant with my servant David (put your name) be broken, . . ..” (Jer. 33:20 – 21) So position yourself to enable Him fulfil His own part of the covenant. I employ you, dear friend in Christ, your obedience and absolute confidence, trust and total dependence on God shall ensure for you the realization of a new fruitful beginning in 2018. For the scripture says, “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream it shall not fear when heat comes and its leaves shall stay green . . ..” (Jer. 17:7 – 8)
