(Day 21 of the 21-day Fasting and Prayers)
Scripture Reading: Acts 16:24-26
Welcome to the last day of the 21 days fasting and prayers. No trouble, however grievous, should hinder us from praise. According to the story told in Acts when Paul and Silas were in jail, “They didn’t despair. They sang…It became their weapon.” A definition of Christian praise is the joyful thanking and adoring of God, the celebration of His goodness and grace. This simply implies that the act of praising is rightfully due to God alone. The prayer of praise is effective such that it moves God to come down. Scripture says, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.” (Psalms 22:3) As we round off our 21 days fasting and prayer, let us form the attitude of prayer and praise. Let us praise God, not because of the miracle we seek, but just because of WHO HE IS. He is the Creator of the universe, He is the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Almighty God, He is awesome, the miracle worker, the Lamb seated on the throne. He can, and will do whatever He wants, within His laws of Love. As the Common Preface IV says “For, although You have no need of our praise, yet our thanksgiving is itself your gift since our praises add nothing to your greatness but profit us for salvation.” Dear friends when men praise God, God raises them. The Bible is filled with examples of praise when we see His power released – life-changing miracles, dramatic stories of the enemy being halted or defeated, hearts being changed and drawn closer to Him. Praise was the weapon that Paul and Silas used to gain their liberty from that evil prison that tended to deny their freedom. Praise was the secret of King David’s numerous victories in all his battles. Forget your troubles and condition and sing praises from the sincerity of your heart to God. Beloved, lift up your hand and sing: “You deserve the glory and the honor, I lift my hands in worship and I bless Your Holy name. Chorus: You are great, You do miracles. So great, there is no one else like You; there is no one else like You.” Keep singing it as the spirit directs you. It was the sound of praises that brought down the walls of Jericho. There is power in praises; it is an effective form of prayer. As you have prayed during these 21 days concerning various intentions, now it is time to praise; let praises be your major prayers. Praise God always, by day and by night, praise God in faith and in truth. Today and as we get ready to move to the camp for the Round-off Activities, let praise be our meat in expectation of what the Lord shall do during this period. As we praise Him, let us expect a bounteous harvest of God’s goodness. Keep praising, no matter the condition, and God will come down into your situation to turn things around in order to glorify His name and bless His people. “From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” (Psalms 8:2) Brethren, if we want to see a clear manifestation of God’s blessings and grace, all we need to do is to praise Him with all our heart, our mind, and our soul.
