Scripture Reading: Revelation 2:5
As we prepare to begin our three-days fast tomorrow, the Holy Spirit reminds us through the words of Revelation 2:5 thus: “Remember then from what you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first…” I once watched a movie in which a certain reigning wrestler was to be challenged by a new small fighter. For some reasons, the reigning wrestler had not been in training for a while, whereas the new fighter had been training hard behind closed doors. When the D-day arrived, people were cheering the reigning wrestler believing he will win as usual, but to their shock he was beaten seriously and disgracefully by this new small fighter. This storyline is not too different from the reality in the lives of many believers today. We have a significant number of believers, who reigned yesterday, but today have fallen. I can still remember some brothers and sisters, who were honestly reputable for prayers, evangelization, singing, attending morning masses, morning cries, midnight prayers, visits to the Blessed Sacrament, 20 decades of the Rosary, regular novena, fellowship, etc., but have now fallen into the valley of spiritual decay. Some of us used to do exploits for the Lord, but now we are nowhere. Today the Holy Spirit tells you to remember the height from which you have fallen (pause and meditate). Brethren, be disturbed in your spirit, see how the devil is mesmerising you, to the extent that you have lost the joy of salvation. Come on beloved, rise up from that valley of sin. Put a stop to that evil relationship that brought you down to dwell in this valley. Remember Samson’s destruction came when he fell in love with Delilah, a woman who dwelt in the valley of Sorek. These three days fasting is programmed to lift us up from our various valleys, especially the valley of sin, the valley of demonic bondage, the valley of evil oppression, evil injected sicknesses, poisons, disappointments occasioned by evil forces, barrenness programmed by evil powers, lack of progress manipulated by wickedness of man and demons, habitual sin caused by satanic assaults. It is TIME TO RISE. That valley is not God’s destination for you, God only allowed you to pass through the valley, not to dwell there. The power of God is available to move you to the height He has in mind for you, only key into this 3-day fast in faith and true repentance.
