Scripture Reading: Jeremiah. 29:13
The Holy Spirit wants you to understand that the life of a child of God should be characterized by total surrender to the Lord of all that we have. It is only in this regard that one can get the best out of his relationship with the divine and enjoy relationship with the Trinity. Hence, to live in God, requires that you seek Him wholeheartedly no iota of deception. Nothing should take the place of God in your life. Unfortunately, this has not been so; as the place of God has become so insignificant in our lives. Man, today, shuttles between God and vanities. But the truth is, the Holy Spirit wants you to know that we can only find true satisfaction when we seek God with all our heart and our worship becomes meaningful and rewarding.
The Scripture says: “These people claim to worship me, but their words are meaningless, and their hearts are somewhere else. Their religion is nothing but human rules and traditions, which they have simply memorized.” (Isa. 29:13). The people of Israel at this point in time had made the worship of God a matter of pure externalism. No longer from the heart. They were just following the letters of the laws, not the spirit of the law. Their worship of God was merely a show off. Their hearts were far from God. They have become so engrossed with the things of the world around them, and God was no longer prime in their lives. But God cannot be deceived and because of the evil of the Israelites, God said “So I will startle them with one unexpected blow after another. Those who are wise will turn out to be fools, and all their cleverness will be useless.” (Isa. 29:14).
Dearly beloved in Christ, the best way to worship God is to seek Him with all our hearts and minds. In your relationship with God, you must learn to abandon yourself wholeheartedly to God with perfect resignation. Hence St. John Eudes advised, “Our wish, our object , our chief preoccupation must be to form Jesus in ourselves, to make his spirit, his devotion, his affection, his desires and disposition live and reign there. When we seek the Lord with all our hearts, we fear no evil, because He shall take care of us. Seeking God with all your hearts entails that you should keep faithful to the commandments of God; you should be ready to do what He wants at all times; offer Him your best and your all; God must occupy a central position in your life. God becomes the pillar of your life. You can only find God when you seek Him with all your heart. When you seek God with all your heart, you become a living testimony of God’s goodness.
