Scriptural Reference: Luke 4:34
St. Peter Julian Eymard says, “If I love Jesus, I ought to resemble him. If I love Jesus, I ought to love what he loves, what he prefers to all else: humility.” The Christian life basically remains a call to a more intimate imitation of Jesus who is our Leader. We are called and are expected to be imitators of Christ who was prophesied to be a sign of contradiction. And indeed was He not a sign of contradiction? In a time when revenge was prized as a godly act, He would call the merciful blessed and proclaim forgiveness an ideal for the godly.
