Scripture Reading: Luke 9:28 —36
Dearest friend in Christ, there is the reality of spiritual masks. Are you ignorant of them? The Holy Spirit wants us to reflect on this reality of our existence. Just as these masks were employed to conceal the identities of perpetuators of crime so also the devil employs the same weapon today to the glorious identity of believers.
In our world today, so many believers have lost their identities. They are lost in and with the crowd. May this not be our portion in Jesus name. Amen. Believers labour and yet go unrewarded for their hard labour even in their places of work. They are the most hardworking yet nobody seems to recognize their efforts. There is the problem of identity crisis and compromise. Such believers are under spiritual masks. A spiritual mask conceals glory and identity. It makes your efforts fruitless and makes you go unnoticed. Even when you seem to be trying, all that you do goes unnoticed. Even when you seem to be trying all you know to the best of your ability, it seems not to be paying off. Are you married and all your husband sees in you is your bad side? Are you a labourer or a business man and yet while others who operate around you are experiencing bombardment of patronage from every side, you on the other hand go home empty handed and with a gloomy face? Do you have a boss who seems to be insatiable with whatever good deeds you carry out? Are you a graduate with a good result yet without a job or you have rounded off your studies for years and yet your results are nowhere to be found? Has your file been hidden in one office or the other making life conditions unbearable for you? In most cases, occurrences of this nature indicated that there is a spiritual mask over you. Despite these looming situations necessitated by the reality of spiritual masks, the situation is not hopeless. There is good news. This is the good news I present to us from the Lord, “The veil is removed when a person is joined to the Lord.” Also, the veil is removed when a person turns to the Lord.” (2 Cor. 3:14b, 16) As such, when we turn to the Lord, our masks are removed and destroyed by the glory of His presence so that beholding Him as in a mirror we shall be transformed from glory to glory. Indeed, St. Paul becomes
very true in this regard when he added that, “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (1 Cor. 3:17) Indeed God, by the power of His Spirit, can affect a divine touch of liberation this day as you open to the same Divine Spirit. As you read this reflection, this same Spirit of the Lord is present with you to unmask you. The Spirit who is active in the Church is present with you right now bringing about liberation to you in every area where the devil has held you captive. God is in the business of destroying masks; the destruction of satanic masks is the specialization of our God. As we pray today, by the power of His anointing, every satanic mask over our lives and endeavors shall be destroyed in Jesus name.
