Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:19-20

St. Augustine of Hippo said, “What can be hoped for which is not believed?” Paul said: “… my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, … that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of His inheritance in the saints…” By this, Paul posits that the hope of our calling; the main reason we are called to Christ; our reward for being sons and daughters of God is to experience the riches of His glory, which, according to Paul is already our inheritance. Unbelievers’ eyes have to be opened to this, to stimulate and motivate them, to accept Christ, and sustain us already in Christ, in the rigorous journey to eternity. It is at this point that God will overshadow us with the greatness of His power.
The Scriptures reveal that there is power God gives to those who believe. It is a form of the inheritance that we share in Christ Jesus. It does not come to us by our struggles or our knowledge. It does not come by our wishing that it comes. The power is what God gives to us for believing in Him and in the name of His Christ. Every Christian needs this power to function like he should. It is a power of excellence and dominion in the affairs of life. Nothing opposes the potency of the power of God. That is the power He gives to us as His children. Power that defies the dictations of nature. The power that raised Jesus from the dead. This same power is what God will exercise in us at the end. Then, we will be raised from the physical death and changed from the physical, earthly nature, and then, clothed in divine, resplendent form. Oh! What a mighty power we shall experience that day. Just keep moving with God. Do not deviate in your walk with Him because definitely, your rewards are intact.
