Scripture Reading: Psalm 40: 1-11
Verses 1-2 of our reference today says, “I waited patiently for the LORD’S help; then he listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of a deadly quicksand. He sat me safely on a rock and made me secure.”
Hear this testimony from a User of Daily Strength Devotional, “I got married May 2014, and I have been praying to God for the fruit of the womb. I was present at the Daily Strength program held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Lokoja, Kogi State from the 25th -27th of Sept. 2015. I received my blessing at that vigil, but manifested after the five days Fasting declared by Daily Strength Devotional to start the new month of October 2015. That was the month I took in. I am pregnant now. Praise the Lord, Alleluia.” The Scripture says that the mission of Lucifer and his fallen angels is to afflict the children of God; either by destroying marriages, health and their financial wellbeing. Lucifer is full of wickedness and hatred. No wonder the Psalmist says, “Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.” (Psa. 74: 20). St. Paul agrees completely when he advised believers thus: “Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power. Put on all the armours that God gives you so that you will be able to stand against the Devils tricks. For, we are not fighting human being but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers of this Dark Age.” Beloved, these sound fearful. It should not be because the God you serve is Almighty. He is the Alpha and Omega. He requires us to simply pray and wait patiently in faith. He will come just as He did in the life of the Sister in our story today.
Dear friend, the Lord will set your feet on solid ground and make you steady as you walk along your path of life. As you pray and wait patiently in faith, He shall grant you success and victory over your ugly situations and you shall have cause to sing new song, a song of praise to Him (Verse 3). Waiting means trusting that God knows what He is doing and cannot fail or disappoint you. It is possible that you are single and looking for someone to share your life with; the Spirit of God says to you, “Be patient, and wait for Him”. Perhaps you are seeking the fruit of the womb or a job. The Spirit says to you. “Please wait in faith and prayers. He is coming to attend to you”. More often, I hear statements such as: “Brother Jude, I am now 30, 35 or 40 years etc. at times some would say”. I am tired. I have said all manners of prayers including fasting. In fact, God has turned His face away from my direction”. “Now I am prepared to do whatever can satisfy me”. Beloved, the God of heaven cannot afford to delay a second longer without satisfying you. Here He said, “Even lions go hungry for lack of food, but those who obey the Lord lack nothing good.” (Psa. 34:10). Let your confidence in God never wane. Keep your faith in Him alive and trust that he will come to your aid at the fullness of time let your word always be: EVEN THOUGH NO ONE SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH NOW AND IT SEEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN ABANDONED, YET I WILL WAIT PATIENTLY FOR MY GOD.
