Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 23:29
Today we continue with the other weapons.
THE WORD OF GOD: God said in Jeremiah 23:29, “Is not My Word like fire?” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock?” Dear child of God, there is power in the Word of God. Every Word spoken by God carries with it the power to save, and to deliver. It comes with cleansing and transformation, and consecration. Today, the Lord challenges us to understand this, for if we do, we will not fail to study the Scriptures, and pay rapt attention whenever the Scripture readings are going on at Mass. When we understand the power in the Word, we will no longer be scared of the operations of satanic agents around us. Hear this: “A sister was facing a fierce battle against the forces of darkness. In a dream, God revealed to her to pray with Psalms 57 as she prayed with the psalm she realized it was actually addressing what she was battling with. There is in fact power that goes with every Word of God. Believe it, for all spoken words of God are settled in heaven and He waits for us to remind Him so that He might bring them to pass.
THE FIRE OF GOD: Most times we fall into the temptation of thinking the fire of God burns the wicked person. The fire of God, the Holy Spirit, destroys everything that is evil. It is a force that Satan and all his minions cannot contend. So as a weapon, we use it to continuously renounce and eliminate from our lives everything that sin, Satan and the self can offer. When we use the Fire of God, all the works of Satan are destroyed. We use it to sanctify our lives unto holiness. A preacher, recounting what the Fire of God does, narrated how when the fire fell in a gathering, sinners began to forsake their sins, those who were sick began to receive healing. The Fire indeed dispels darkness.
THE NAME OF JESUS: The New Community Bible version captures the message of the name of Jesus to us today. “The name of Jesus is a strong tower, the virtuous rely on it and are safe.” The name of Jesus is the authority of the believer to operate in safety. It is not our voice that Satan hears and bows, it is the authority that reigns when the name of Jesus is mentioned in faith. The power to be saved lies in the name of Jesus because of Who Jesus is (GOD) and because of what He did. (Through His death, He brought back the dominion and authority man lost in the Garden of Eden) Romans 10:13 and Acts of the Apostles 2:21 clearly states: “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
