Scripture Reading: James 1:12

We always hear Christians say things like “I have been doing everything right. I have been fasting and praying, giving, loving my neighbour, obeying the Lord, reading Scriptures daily, and walking faithfully with the Lord. What did I do wrong?

Beloved, I have learned on my walk of faith that believers should be on the guard when they ask all these questions because Satan uses it to attack and gain control of the believer’s mind.  He will say, “No he doesn’t love you. Look at those unbelievers who are not going through adversity, but you say Jesus Christ died for you, and yet you are going through the worst troubles of your life.” Don’t let the devil inject doubt into your heart. Don’t let him put you in despair and bitterness towards God. Don’t ever forget the other times God has delivered you because He will do it again. The devil will try to say it was a coincidence, but with God there is no coincidence. Cry out to God. Block Satan off and always remember that we have victory in Christ. The Psalmist says. “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber…..”(Psa.121:2)

God has to train His troops. The Psalmist says, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock and my great strength, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.”(Psa.144:1) Have you ever heard of any staff sergeant who got to where he was without going through tough situations? God has to prepare His children for the future. At a time when I said, “why God, why this, and why that?” God said to me, wait for My timing. God is the Deliverer of those who fear Him. Hear the Psalmist, “Blessed (happy and sheltered by God’s favour) is everyone who fears the Lord (and worships Him with obedience).”(Psa.128:1a) God has the capacity and authority to deliver all who are His; but at times allows us to be tried. The trial is not to punish but to strengthen and create in the believer a more focused spiritual life. St. Paul says, “Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in prayer with an attitude of thanksgiving.” (Col.4:2) I have seen God use trials to build me up, answer different prayers, open doors, help others, and I have seen many miracles that I knew it was only God who could have done this.  He will never forsake us.

  1. Lord, You have given me Your peace; Your (own) peace You have bequeathed to me. It is not the peace that the world gives. I will not let my heart be troubled, neither will I let it be afraid. (I refuse to be agitated and disturbed; and I will not permit myself to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.)

Exercise: Take the prayer “Overcoming Demonic/Wicked Conspiracy” in “Amen: It Is Done”.

Meditation: Hebrews 10:35-36
