Scripture Reading: Isaiah 62:6-7

Today the Holy Spirit desires to put the burden of prayer on us. The Holy Spirit is looking for vessels to groan in prayer again. The Catechism of the Catholic Church No. 2647 states that “Prayer of intercession consists in asking on behalf of another. It knows no boundaries and extends to one’s enemies.”  Hear this: “Before every great kingdom event demonstrated by our Lord Jesus, the scriptures indicates that He spent some quality time with His Father in prayer. During this time He was able to establish God’s divine agenda here on earth.”

An intercessor is one who pleads on behalf of another. On the general level all of us are called to be intercessors. Also as our scripture reading today tells us some persons have been specifically given the role to stand in the gap, to be intercessors.  Hear Prophet Ezekiel: “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30) In Isaiah 59:16 scripture says; “He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor…….” The pertinent question is WHERE ARE THE INTERCESSORS? Child of God asked yourself, do I still spend time interceding? Have we forgotten that we can effect change in the life and situation of things anywhere in the world from our prayer chambers? Beloved, know that the world, with all its needs and crises is waiting to be helped by your prayers. Know that God is waiting for you to bring that burden about that person, that family, that organization, that fellowship to Him in prayer. Friend, there is a wall where God has stationed you to watch. There is a family that has become toys in the hands of the evil ones because you have failed to stand in the gap. There is a person whose destiny is about to be thwarted if you fail to intervene in prayer.  There are souls perishing whose only hope rest is the intercession of brethren. Towns and villages are flourishing in dark activities and are held bound by satanic powers which can be liberated if only you will intercede for them. Fellowships and churches are becoming lukewarm and confused because intercessors have gone to sleep.  Hear what

our Lord Jesus says to all believers, “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Lk. 10:19)

Dear friends in Christ, if Mary had not interceded for the couple at the wedding feast in John 2:1-11, shame and sorrow would have marred the event. If Moses had not interceded for Israel, the desert would have ended their story. If Esther refused to intercede for her people, they would have been maliciously exterminated by Haman. God is calling us to become intercessors again. God is waiting for us to raise up our hands in prayer like Moses of old, so that the church (the people of God) will remain victorious. Jesus wants us to join him in His ministry of intercession. (Heb. 7:25).
