DAY 5 OF THE MID-YEAR FASTING AND PRAYERS)
Scripture Reading: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20
A Christian writer once more enlightens our understanding of God with this: “God is omnipresent, while Satan can be in only one place at a time. God is omniscient, while Satan must depend upon information he receives from his demons; God is omnipotent, while Satan has limited power.” In the presence of the whole assembly of Israel, David blessed Yahweh thus: “Yours, Yahweh is the greatness, the power, the splendor, length of day and glory, everything in heaven and on earth is yours. Yours is the sovereignty. Yahweh you are exalted, supreme over all. Wealth and riches come from you, you are ruler of all, in your hands lie strength and power, and you bestow greatness and might on whomsoever you please.” (1 Chron. 29:11-12) This is the understanding of those who excel in their journey with God. This is the secret of those who win victory in warfare. Understanding that God has no rival, no contender is usually hampered in our world when much of Satan’s works are being magnified.
In this generation, there are many challenges which makes believers to start doubting God, His excellency and majesty. This temptation can easily come and even overwhelm the believer if he/she lacks the depth of understanding of the personality of God. St. Teresa of Avila says, “Consider seriously how quickly people change, and how little trust is to be had in them, and cleave fast unto God, who changeth not”. Many believers do not want to accept this message that the Lord made us to understand, “In the world you will find troubles but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Many believers are abandoning God today because of the troubles of life; many are losing faith because they think their problem is beyond God. The Psalmist confirms this thus: “As for God, His ways are blameless, the word of the Lord is tested (it is perfect, it is faultless); He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God, but the Lord? Or who is a rock except our God…” (Psalms 18:30-31).
Beloved, no matter how difficult the situation facing us may seem, God is Almighty and nothing is practically impossible to Him. Are you facing serious health challenges, marital problems, no job or collapse in business? Your God is more than able to grant you freedom if only you can trust in His ability to do so. Do not be part of faithless Christians who constantly deny the love and the greatness of God by seeking help in the hands of mere mortals.
