Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 7:1-2
Beloved, I welcome you to today’s reflection. In the last two quarters of our Devotional we reflected on a topic, “NO ONE BECOMES A CHAMPION WITHOUT A FIGHT” Today we are dealing on fighting to keep your championship. Beloved, your salvation is a prize won for you by Christ Jesus on the Cross. He fought to get it done. St. Paul wrote on this truth in his Epistle to the Ephesians chapter 6:12, “For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. So put on God’s armour now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.” Mark the word, “After fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.” That is saying, “You must fight to keep your championship!
Beloved, you must be aware that there is a battle raging on. It is a spiritual battle. Unfortunately many cannot see this battle or understand because it is fought in the spirit realm. Beloved, there are forces that don’t want you to succeed; there forces that don’t want you to make it to heaven. There are forces that want you to fail in your marriage; they want you to fail virtually in every aspect of your life. Will you allow them to succeed in your life? These forces have succeeded in destroying very many marriages and many are at the verge of crumbling. These forces have caused many who were once vibrant believers to now go round with a new name, “Backslidden.” Beloved, don’t underrate your opponent, because if you do you will have yourself to blame. Are you a child of God? Have you won victory in any area of your life? Then the Holy Spirit is saying to you, “You must fight to keep your championship.” A brother once said to me, “If it takes you 21days of fasting/prayers to gain victory, you need another 21days of fasting/prayers to keep that victory.” I agree 100% with this brother, he understands this spiritual battle. Apostle Peter said, “Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
